Safe Reproduction Program For Male Hiv Guests
Making Parenting Possible
Thanks to the development in research on highly effective HIV drugs, most people living with HIV can lead healthy and normal lives with treatment, similar to managing any other chronic disease. Our reproductive center is also capable of offering safe reproductive programs for HIV-positive men, enabling them to become parents and ensure a healthy future generation.
Specialized Test-Tube Reproductive Program for Male HIV Guests
At the Toronto Reproductive Center, our experts are dedicated to helping male HIV-positive individuals realize their dream of becoming parents while ensuring the safety of both the pregnant individuals and their babies.
In collaboration with the Toronto Clinic, we've developed a four-stage process:
-
Comprehensive Assessment: Initially, male HIV guests are required to provide essential information about their condition, including the date of infection, current health status, any concurrent infections, and ongoing antiviral treatments. Rest assured that all information provided will be kept confidential.
-
Sperm Preservation: Not all HIV-positive men have the virus present in their semen samples. Semen collection takes place in the clinical laboratory of the Research Foundation, where HIV virus presence is detected.
-
Semen Detection, Washing, and Freezing: After testing and washing, the semen is free from the virus. Reproductive experts can then use it for in vitro fertilization (IVF)/ test tube babies.
-
In Vitro Fertilization/Test tube: Virus-free sperm is combined with eggs to create embryos, which are subsequently implanted. This process ensures the safety of both the male HIV guests and their partners, making it an increasingly popular and secure choice for individuals in this situation.
